PWF Partners with “I Have a Dream”®, Plainfield Project, and Habitat for Humanity
Parker Gardens hosted a garden center tour and career seminar on July 29th for “I Have a Dream”® (IHAD). IHAD is a private non-profit organization based out of Plainfield High School that motivates and empowers children to reach their education and career goals by providing a long-term program of mentoring, tutoring, enrichment, and tuition assistance for higher education. The Dreamers were adopted into the program as first graders, and will continue with the program through high school. Upon completion of high school, IHAD provides tuition assistance for each student in the program. On July 30th, the Dreamers planted the landscape for a local Plainfield Habitat for Humanity residence. The group has been working with our garden center to create the landscape plan and plant selection. They are currently fundraising to provide a contribution for payment towards the materials. Parker Gardens will be donating the balance of the needed materials beyond what is raised through their efforts. We are truly proud to be able to reach out into our community to not only further the education and success of our youth but to help families in need through organizations such as Habitat for Humanity.
